The Depot on Darby is a Newcastle restaurant that specialises in great tasting food and fantastic service. Just read some of the great feedback we have recieved from some of our guests:

“First time in this Newcastle restaurant after it had been repeatedly mentioned by friends at work. Service was excellent, to the point where I felt guilt of saying ‘no thanks’ too many times as the waiter was always there to refill my glass! THere was plenty of atmosphere and room to move, if you’re a fan of Tapas then this place is for you, go for it! The menu is extensive, there is something for everyone on it and the deserts are to die for. I’ll be back there next time i’m dining in Newcastle, the first chance I get.” – Audre Miles
“My husband and I dined here last night and found it to be very pleasant. The food was great, particularly the caramelised onion and apple tart for entree, the beef for main course and the tasting selection for dessert. Total cost for the two of us for 3 courses (we shared one dessert) plus 2 glasses of wine each was more then affordable. The portion sizes were more then generous. The Newcastle restaurant was about nearly full and still peaceful. Would probably be not that much noisier when full. The waiter was informative and attentive. I would recommend it as a good place for occasions like birthday meals and nights out with friends.” – Pamela Johnson
“After reading a few reviews I was keen to try the Depots food for myself, and overall my experience was wonderful. The waiter was very attentive. For entre we had scallops, probably the best I have had and the portion was quite sufficient. For mains I had the crispy salmon, very delicate, perfectly cooked and the portion I thought was quite decent. My partner had the pork, whilst also delicious I probably would have wanted a larger portion, though it seemed to fill my wifes stomach. The desserts were divine. The apple crumble mouth watering. The panacotta was interesting with pistachio fairy floss and raspberry cannoli, the flavours/textures suprisingly complimented each other, but indivdually all three ingredients were also fabulous. It wasn’t too expensive for a restaurant of this standard, which was unexpected, as all the mains were $25 which I found very reasonable.” – Terry Cantina
“A great place to have a drink and a bite after work with friends in a energetic atmosphere. A really cool funky container bar in a great part of Newcastle. Great selection of beers on available. Highly rated +++.” – Bill Jefferies
“I have been here a number of times since the Depot on Darby recently opened and have had one of the most outstanding dining experiences here, and would recommend this restaurant highly to all. The staff went above and beyond my expectations to cater for my 8 guests. The food was delectable, the service A1 and the ambience was perfectly set! You could actually hear yourself talking and not competing over music or a noisy atmosphere.
The menu has been put together with great skill and consideration, and the meals themselves are mouth-wateringly delicious, satisfying and well balanced. The option to have a casual pizza, tapas or a 3 course meal is a fantastic bonus. My guests were left very pleased with the quality and taste of the food on offer. The Crab and Prawn ragout in brik pastry with chilli jam and the rib eye steak were the highlights of my experience. The rib eye was cooked to our specification and you could tell that it was a was top grade meat. The twice cooked duck leg was also beautiful! For dessert, the white chocolate mousse with blackberries was a hit. The range of wines on offer were extensive as well as a number of boutique beers. Best of all you can retire to the lounge or bar area after dinner to continue on with your friends.
The Depot on Darby offers excellent value, quality and service and desiredly warrants a return visit. I would not hesitate to recommend The Depot on Darby and I urge those who have had previous bad experiences to, perhaps, try going again as, after initial teething issues which are to be expected, the team have it well and truly together to make your experience memorable.” – Lisa Claymore
As you can see this Newcastle restaurant is being praise by many who have had the pleasure to dine here, many are saying it’s one of the best restaurants Newcastle has to offer. Try it for yourself, I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
